The next season or festival in the Celtic Wheel of The Year is here. The summer solstice. The start of summer. Which is followed swiftly by Midsummer in a few days! :-)
The motif for this season sort of combines the Wheel with the Danish tradition of lighting bonfires on Midsummer’s Eve. I think in the Celtic tradition bonfires are more associated with Beltane, the previous festival.
But Midsummer’s Eve and the bonfires and the light summer evenings have always felt special to me so I wanted to include that in my embroidery. Since I can’t go to a bonfire here in the UK, I’ll have one in my embroidery. :-)
