Colour serendipity

Slightly out of focus or atmospheric..?

Today our washing machine has been very, very busy dyeing three lots of fabric. For a VERY secret project! I actually wanted 3 different colours (orange, green and turquoise) for this project, but don’t you know, the only shop hereabouts that sells Dylon dye didn’t have those colours! So, I had pretty much two options, go home and order it online (=have to wait for the dye + considerably dearer!) or pick 3 different colours and Make It Work.

As you can tell, I chose option two. And you know what? I am glad I did. I really like those three colours together! I was especially worried that I wouldn’t like the blue because it is a fairly warm blue and I prefer my blues to be kinda cool.

Isn’t it funny how sometimes we’re forced to use something else than what we planned and then it turns out so much better than we could have ever imagined? This ever happen to you?

What is also quite interesting is how the individuall fabrics have responded to the dye! In some cases the prints were not my favourite ever, but with the dye they have transformed and now I’m lovin’ them!

I may have to dye more things very soon! Like our tea towels which used to be green but are looking rather pale now!
