I have finally (!) gone through my photos from the Festival of Quilts. Which was almost seven months ago. I know, you’ve undoubtedly been waiting with bated breath for me to post these, eh? ;-)
I’m not going to write a whole lot about these quilts because they kinda speak for themselves.
A few things: I’ve added maker info where I have it. If you know who made any of the quilts without info, please let me know in the comments or via email. Thank you!
I’ve taken the photos with my mobile phone camera and the light in the hall wasn’t always the best, so obviously the photos aren’t as great as the quilts deserve. I hope the photos still give you an impression of how great these quilts are.
Finally, these are just a fraction of the many, many quilts and other textile art pieces at the Festival.

‘Kurbits’ – Anna-Greta Lindström. I love the ombre effect of the piecing from white/cream to dark blue. All made with what looks like 1″x2″ pieces.
Queen of the Night – Helena Scheffer and Marion Perrault. The quilting… WOW!
Tentmakers of Cairo. These aren’t actually quilts, but a type of appliqué. I kept coming back to this stand because they were just so beautiful. I really REALLY wish I’d had a spare few hundred £££ so I could have bought one. They are amazing. They actually have an Etsy shop.
Oh my word, look at all those birds! SO amazing! Also Tentmakers of Cairo.
On the left: Garden for Victory – K. Velis Turan.
On the right: It is better to have one bird at hand than one hundred in flight – Marisela Rumberg. This is a quilt by a Mexican quilter. I love the quilting on the yellow background. Gorgeous details.
Banksia Spill – Ruth de Vos.

Hank, Frankly – Kerry Foster. This is one of my favourites! So quirky and fun and looks just like the real Hank! :-)
Star Sign – Philippa Naylor. The colours are mesmerizing and the quilting is beautiful.
La Torre de Babel – Cecilia Koppmann. I spent quite a bit of time looking at this quilt. I love the pops of colour against the grey background. And the clever change from dark to light colours.
This quilt… oh boy. Made from tiny bits of Liberty fabric and then quilted so that it looked more like a close up of an Impressionist painting.
