Sometimes I come across types of embroidery that just completely draw me in. Blackwork embroidery is one of them. When I get into a blackwork ‘period’ it is all the embroidery I want to do.
A couple of weeks ago I came across the Swedish embroidery type called bottensöm. It is beautiful! It looks complicated but is actually quite easy to do. I have made several already that are fairly simple, but I definitely want to do more! And more complicated ones, too. So I think it will be my next daily project once the current floral project is finished.
I may even ban myself from doing any more bottensöm for now so that I am really raring to go! We shall see! :-D
Bottensöm can be embellished with all kinds of things, like sequins and beads or mini pompoms. The possibilities! I didn’t have a plan when I started adding beads to this one, I’m not sure if I’ll leave it as it is or fill all the gaps with beads. Maybe leave it as it is so it’s easier to see the embroidery grid…
Your stitching looks wonderful! I especially like the addition of beads and sequins. I’d love to learn more about this style of embroidery, but I haven’t had any luck finding any information; do you have a particular book or website you could point me to?

Thank you! No books, unfortunately. Atleast nit in English as far as I can tell. I just googled it. But I will be making a tutorial for it soon. :-)
Perfect!
