A couple of months ago, I was binging on some classes on Creativebug and one of them was Make A Doodle Quilt by Annabel Wrigley. Working on the large blanket mend got in the way of starting the quilt but I finally made the doodle quilt a couple of weeks ago.
It was a fun project to work on. And since everything is ironed on, and not pieced, it was very quick to do all those curves. I really like how it turned out. I want to make some more. Maybe smaller ones…
This one is approximately 25″x26″. I call it Gelato Swirl because it is kinda swirly and the colours are kind of ice cream-y. :-)
I followed the class instructions pretty much to the letter and one thing I was a bit doubtful about was using the colour of the background fabric to quilt the whole thing. Especially doing the quilting so closely together. But I actually really like how that turned out. And it’s certainly easier to do everything in one colour! But I might experiment with a more ‘invisible’ effect if I make more.
Have you tried making something like this?
P.S. The quilt is for sale. Email me if you are interested. :-)
