It has been interesting watching the customs after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. I’m not a big fan (is that the word?) of royalty but from the perspective of watching history unfold, it has been interesting.
When I heard of the custom of telling the Queen’s bees that she had died, the image stuck in my mind and I decided to make this wee pattern. The custom of telling the bees isn’t just used in the royal family, it is in an old tradition. And used at births and marriages as well as deaths.
I like this idea. That you tell…I don’t know.. a representative of the earth what is going on in your family.
The bees in the pattern fly up to form the letters E II R but since the bees are just dots you can easily change the letters to the initials of someone in your life. Or leave out the letters altogether. :-)
Lovely pattern. I’d heard the phrase but didn’t know the meaning. Thanks for the background.

Thank you, Barbara! I’d heard the phrase too but never thought to look it up. I’m glad I now know what it means. :-)
