A Stitchy Course for 2025

These are the colourful, squishy edges of the pages of the Wheel of The Year textile book I worked on all through last year. I am very happy with the end result. :-)

There were a few times where I thought I might give up on the project but I’m really glad that I didn’t!

And I’m making another project, inspired by this one, through 2025. And you can join me! I am offering this as a yearlong course where every 6-7 weeks, coinciding with the festivals of the Wheel, a new video tutorial will be released, along with templates for the particular flower or plant that is the topic of that page. And there will be some extras too. Like at least a couple of hand embroidery patterns inspired by the main project.

I am going to stitch this project by machine but it is definitely possible to stitch it by hand. It’s the perfect slow stitching project I think. I mean, it is going to take almost a year to finish it! :-)

The project for 2025 will not be a copy of the one I made in 2024. But it will be inspired by it! I am going to pick one flower from each of the 2024 page spreads and make a wreath design for each of the 2025 seasons.

So the basic project will be eight pages but I have a bunch of ideas and tips for expanding the number of pages, or to use them in a different way. To make a quilt for example! Which I would kind of like to do but I doubt I’ll have time for that…

There will of course also be a video tutorial for turning the pages into a finished textile book. Which is a very satisfying, squishy object.

Over on YouTube I shared a video of my finished 2024 project. It is a lot easier to get an idea of a 3D project in a video than in photos. :-)

Whether you already celebrate the seasons of the Wheel as a part of your daily life, or you just need an excuse to make a seasonally inspired project with flowers, I hope you will join me for the Wheel of The Year Project for 2025.
