Happy Ostara!

Photo of a square piece of light green fabric. On the fabric are appliquéd daffodils in a sort of circular shape. In the centre the word Ostara is embroidered with purple thread.

Belated happy Ostara/Spring Equinox! This is part of my Wheel of The Year project for 2025.

I love daffodils, they are so bright and cheerful and a real signal that spring is on the way. Although I do prefer to admire them from a distance because their scent gives me a headache. Yesterday I went for a walk in the nearby woodland and there are lots of daffodils there. I could smell them from quite a distance. When they are outside it’s fine, but I can’t buy them and a put them indoors…

I don’t think I have shared the ‘page’ I made for Imbolc, of course that features snowdrops! :-)

Photo. On the left of the image is a light blue square of fabric with snowdrops appliquéd on it. On the right hand side of the image is an embroidery hoop with pink fabric partially embroidered with a snowdrop design.

I love snowdrops. I really need to get some planted in our garden…

These appliqués are inspired by my Wheel project from last year. But in a simpler form. Last year I spent more time on the Wheel project than I had planned…

This year I am also making some embroideries inspired by the Wheel and seasonal plants. I haven’t decided if the appliqués and the embroideries will be put together in one project at the end. But I guess I have until the end of December to decide. :-)
